We use the Whirly Pop on stove popper. Love it. Popcorn comes out nice and fluffy and it's relatively cheap to buy too. Under $20. My kids love helping us turn it while it's popping.

I use an air popper from Target. I want to skip extra oil.

I love my stir crazy by west end. Same idea as whirley pop but less work. I have both, I really like popcorn

I was trying to avoid plastic since it gets hot, so we just reuse small brown paper bags that we get in the deli or bagel place, etc… in the microwave!

My Dutch oven. The same thing my mom used. :) I was thinking of getting one of those whirlygigs, but like PP I didn't want to store it, and honestly,my Dutch oven works great and I can do it in my sleep practically.

my favorite popper? Plain non-GMO popcorn kernels in a plain brown paper bag - cook in microwave until stopped popping. (1/3 cup to a small bag)

Air popped popcorn without chemicals! Add olive oil & sea salt (or anything else you want). CHEAP, EASY, and little cleanup!

I use a pot, a sauce pot if I want a little or a stock pot if I need more. It's easy and always comes out good. I had a whirly pop but threw it out. Not because it didn't work I just found a regular pot easier.

Thank you! I am not adventurous enough to try microwave popcorn in a paper bag. I think I will try popcorn on the stove first, and if I don't like that then I'll get the small air popper at Target. The Stir Crazy is just huge and it would be hard to store. My parents have a Whirley Pop and it's pretty cool, but if a pot works just as well then I'll try that first.

So if you cook popcorn with a just a pot on your stove what kind of pot do you use? I have Calphalon hard adonized, and a restaurant supply stainless one.

I've used anodized and stainless. I find the anodized easier to clean afterwards but they both work.

Regular heavy-bottomed pot. This works PERFECTLY:

1. Heat 3 tablespoons of oil and a little salt on medium-high heat.
2. Put 4 kernels in and wait for them to pop.
3. When they pop, put 1/3 cup kernels into the pot, then cover.
4. Take it off heat and count to 30.
5. Put the pot back on the burner, slightly uncovered, and shake shake shake.
6. When it's about done popping, put it into a bowl, and use the hot pan to melt some butter.

It pops almost all the kernels. The oil is infused into the popcorn, so it's not hard to clean up.

My method is similar to well yes. I have an old, heavy Dutch oven. 2-3 T of oil, I heat 3 kernels when one pops I put 1/2 C kernels in over medium-high heat. It pops, I shake occasionally with the lid on tight until it stops. I salt after it's popped to taste. It's so hot and fresh. Mmm. :popc1:

This. Just me, and an old pot with a lid.

I haven't bought bagged popcorn in 10 yrs. I have an old revere ware pan that is the "popcorn pan" Little oil and popcorn 5 minutes and there ya go. I don't need another "appliance"

IMO... air popcorn sucks.. it has no flavor

I'm with you. I did the bag-in-the-microwave thing for years, but I'm finding pan-popped is actually better for me because I end up using less butter and other toppings.

See, I want all of my fat and calories to come from my butter...not wasted on cooking oil. ;)

If you make it with coconut oil, you don't need (or miss) the butter!
