Anyone bored enough to help me find some new storage devices for my living room shelf? I've looked several places and haven't found what I need yet.

-ideal dimensions: 12" wide x 12" tall x 15" deep
-straight sides
-handle
-not dark color (shelf is very tall and dark)
-not see-through
-prefer natural materials (visually)
-prefer cheap(ish) 'cause I need a lot
-but also prefer well-made

That's not too much to ask is it?

those are very close to the dimensions of the IKEA Expedit shelves, if I remember correctly. There are a lot of storage options on the IKEA website for Expedit; fabric covered, colored plastic, natural weave. Target also sells an Itso box (usually fabric covered) that works, as I recall. You might need to search here on BBB to find that exact item. I think I saw some new bins at IKEA in the last two months that also looked like they would work. I personally used Sterilite bins because of the price (less than $4 per box), http://www.amazon.com/Sterilite-16288006-Basket-Titanium-Inserts/dp/B002BDTETC/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1331157099&sr=8-1. My Walmart used to carry those STerilite bins, but no longer does, so I ordered from amazon.

On occasion, I have also seen bins in that size at Babies R Us (usually fabric covered) and, even rarer, at World Market.

If you want smaller bins, two sweater boxes from The Container Store or Sterilite at Target usually fit on top of each other. Two or three magazine holders also fit.

I too would have preferred a natural material, but didn't want to pay more than $8 a box, which was a very low price point. I spraypainted my Sterilite Ultra bins with Krylon fusion paint for plastic and am pleased.
