View Full Version : Head phones for a 2 year old?

We are taking a trip this summer which will be DD's first time on a plane. The flight is only 90 minutes and we know we can keep her occupied for 90 minutes with some games and Sesame Street on the iPad. Since all of these things make noise (and I doubt the entire plane wants to here "Elmo's Song" on repeat for 90 minutes) I want to get her head phones. Any head phones that will fit a 2 year old? Bonus points if they actually stay on (she is good about keeping things in her hair so I hope she will be cool with this). I tried a pair at PBK and they were a tad big but would work...I wasn't keen on the $40 price tag though. TIA.

My super-techy 3y/o nephew was given a pair of kid headphones for Christmas that keep the sound level at a safe threshold for little kids. I'll ask my SIL where they got them and how they fit if you're interested?

We have this pair of Kidz Gear. They fit great and you can control the sound levels.

DS has a pair that we got when he was 3. You can borrow them if you like.

We have the exact same ones, and have used them w/DD (who's just about your DD's age, maybe a week or two younger) several times. Don't have anything for comparison, but we like them. They fit fine, she usually keeps them on, they have a volume control & are adjustable, and have survived 10ish flights so far and don't seem to be any worse for the wear. We only let DD use them on flights/trains, though, since I'd worry about the cords or her destroying them if she used them at home.

The noise of the plane drowns out the noise of a kid movie, IME. The people in the same row can hear it a bit, but not past that. So if you are taking up a whole row, I wouldn't worry about headphones.

We have the same ones and dd started to wear them on flights aroung 18mo. they work well and stay on but after an hour or so she prefers to watch videos without volume because i wont turn up the volume to disturb people.

eta: we tried these and they were horrible. http://www.amazon.com/Griffin-Technology-GB10027-MyPhones/dp/B002U5EOZU/ref=sr_1_32?ie=UTF8&qid=1331218765&sr=8-32 you couldnt hear anything on the highest volume and i have sensitive hearing.

the regular bose (not noice cancelling) ones fit my dd now too.

Hmmm, really? We have a set of the regular ones and the noise cancelling ones. I will have to give them a go...although I doubt DH will like it is DD is playing with one of HIS toys. :ROTFLMAO:

We have these for my 4 year old (bought when she was 2). And we have the kidz gear ones posted aboved for my 8 year old (bought at the same time.). My older DD actually likes the animal ones better. They are both much better than any other ones we've tried.

On a related note, they also sell car DVD headphones in a kid size on amazon that are a lifesaver for long trips - the ones that came with our car fell off our little one constantly. We only use the DVD on long trips but the headphone purchase was so worth it to find ones that stay on her head!

the qc3 are too big for dd. we were out at a high end restaurant to celebrate my brother's promotion and i forgot her headphones for the ipad. a friend of his has a pair of the regular bose headphone (folding) and they worked well!
