We are in desperate need of help naming DS2. DS is Brennan, so I'd like something that sounds ok with that. We don't like trendy or popular names.roblem is DH and I can't come up with anything we both like, and neither of us really love anything. We've gone through tons of websites and about five books and can't come up with anything. some names that have come up between the two of us are: Blake, Bryce, Liam (which is totally out because it's becoming too popular), Dylan, and Anderson. Anyone have any suggestions for new names or thoughts on the names listed? This poor child will be nameless if we don't figure this out!!

Marcus would've been our boy name if we had a boy. I also love Anders (if you like Anderson).

I think you have to go with Mark. It immediately came to my mind too. Why I didn't type it, I don't know.

I like Brennan and Dylan or Brennan and Ronan. I thought that Brennan with any othher B name that I could think of sounded like too much of a mouthful. I like Anderson on its own but not with Brennan...sounds like too many last names. Just my 2 cents.

Good Luck!

Bryce is my DS's name, so, of course, I like that one. When we were naming him I also liked Barrett, Grant, Miles and Eli.

I love the name Bryce and don't think it's becoming popular, but by coincidence, I think I know three in my town. One of them has a brother named Blake and another a brother named Brendan! I live in the south and I think it is a bit of a southern name. Never heard if anywhere else, IRL or on the internet.

Other ideas:
Roland
Rowan
Bode or Bodhi
Chase
Chance
William, no nickname
Alden (again, I know three in my town, but think it's an otherwise very uncommon name)
Marshall
Gavin
Gabriel
Leander (love this name and thought you might like it because it starts the same as Liam)
Addison (might be becoming a girl name?)

If we had a boy, his name would be Lian (with an "n," not an "m"). I love PPs' suggestions of Declan and Eli too.

IMO, all of the names you've listed are trendy. I know two Andersons in my children's school (population 350) alone. Naming trends are often geographical.

I tend to like classic names - in fact, I read the SSA data from 1905-1930 when I was trying to come up with names for my children. Two have first names from great-grandparents and the third has a middle name from a great-grandparent. Boys' names are fairly standard, even comparing circa-1980 data with circa-1905 data. Names like Brennan, Dylan and Anderson were once common surnames.

Do you want Irish/Celtic sounding names? And do you want your average American to be able to pronounce it?

I agree with you, which is one of the reasons I don't love any of the names. While, we actually only know two kids with the names listed, I do know that they are becoming more trendy. We live in a pretty rural area, so it's hard to judge what's popular around the US based on our area. We don't have to have Irish names, for some reason I'm just drawn to them. And I would prefer the average American can pronounce them. Great points!

If I gave my kids English names, DS would be Bennett. We gave him that person's Hebrew name instead. Along the same lines, if we have a boy and we didn't only give family names, it would be Ethan this time.

Don't laugh my first thought was Booth! J/K of course!

I like Ian, Jackson, and Jacob.

Christopher is always a good selection, as is Michael.

Ian was our boy choice for DD2, and Ethan was our boy choice for DD1.

DH's favorite boy name is Thomas.
