View Full Version : Spring jacket?

I struggle each spring with what to wear for a jacket. I never have anything quite right. Fall = suede or Boden velvet, but those aren't spring-ish to me, they are all black or dark brown. I have a light wool wrap sweater type thing, but that seems more fall.

I have a great jean jacket I LOVE but feel like I cannot wear it with jeans. I have one of those sherpa LLBean hoodies, but that seems to casual if I'm trying to look a tad nicer.

Suggestions? $50 - $100 would be great! ETA: I'm in MA so temps can be all over the place.

Anthropologie has some options. I like the tulip hem trench or for more casual the midshipman sea jacket.

My go to jackets for spring are my Coach quilted jackets (have them in black and tan). They look great with everything and always make me look polished. Here are some quilted jacket options:

How warm are you looking for? My quilted jacket (from H&M--finally bit the dust after eight years) was definitely warmer than a jeans jacket. I find spring jackets a bit tough because some days I need something really light and some days I need very nearly a winter coat. (And most days I wish I could switch from one to the other and back again about ten times, but that's San Francisco and its bizarre microclimates) The Anthro options mostly look pretty light weight as compared to the quilted jackets I have seen.

Oh yeah, I forget where OP lives. In Chicago, our springs are pretty cold. For early summer/late fall, I wear a trench coat or light sweaters.

I'm not sure what spring weather is like in your area. What about a knit blazer?
I like this one in the coral or black and white stripes ($59): http://shop.nordstrom.com/s/caslon-one-button-knit-jacket/3232301?origin=keywordsearch&resultback=345
I just placed an order for the same jacket but petite sized in navy and red stripes, it's currently on sale for $37.

This is pretty casual, but I've been loving it, it's like a fancy sweatshirt:

This is the problem - I'm in MA. Today it's 70 degrees, and tomorrow it's going to be 45. I'll be back in my winter coat then, but I need something in the middle!

Sorry, meant to put my location in the OP, I will edit.

Based on your location, one of many quilted options may be the way to go. I know Boden has a cute short one. I have a longer one from Title Nine and it's perfect for 55 and rainy. They don't make it anymore.

I wear a mid-thigh trench for those days. Light material, but the length adds warmth, esp. If you add a scarf.

OHHHH Boden of course!! Lots of good options, many are 25% off and I have a $10 coupon! :)

Maybe Photographer jacket in slate - does it look greenish to anyone else? Or more grey/black? I wish there was a better pic on the model, can't tell anything at all from that.

Waxed biker? The spots are fun but I don't know if I could do it.

Although, both these are similar to the styling of my jean jacket. Probably why I like them, I tend to buy what I already have, lol. I don't know why, but I'm not into the quilted jacket...

Based on your original budget only the first jacket works!

I see what you mean about wondering if it is greenish, it is super hard to tell. I like it though even if it is green!

I also like the waxed biker - but I am not sure if the belt is sitting in a weird place. It looks too high? I think that the dots look surprisingly neutral actually. I bet you could pull them off!

I have an older version of the waxed biker and just a warning it is "spot clean only'; you can't really wash or dryclean waxed cotton. Sort of impractical.

Ok, went for the Photographer jacket after much debating. It's sooooo similar to my jean jacket, I almost didn't get it. We'll see once it gets here. The $10 cert cancelled out the shipping, and even if I send it back I'm still paying less than the 25% off price. We shall see!

Of course somehow, I managed to type in the coupon code and not hit "apply" or something, so the $10 wasn't taken off. Oy! On hold with CS...

EEK, I was posting when you posted!! Some cute options here!! We'll see how the Boden one works out. I had to make the move on that one tonight b/c it's the last day of the 25% off.
