My couisn had the baby early and I am unprepared! She is not into clothes. This is her second baby, but first boy. Any ideas? Price under $50. I just wanted it to be something great but not wanting to obligate them to recipricate when I am due in June.

When I had DS, someone got him a cute jean jacket. You could also get Trumpette socks- less clothes, more novelty item. I bought someone a Skip Hop Pronto- their little portable changer. Or buy her some kind of keepsake. Another friend called and asked what I wanted, she ended up getting a Tiny Love playmat with arches. I never had one before #3.

Books by author Byron Barton, he covers trains, boats, airplanes, etc. They come in small and large size board books. It may seem cliche, but if this is their 1st boy I would guess they don't have any and some little boys really do seem to have a gene for liking vehicles.

If you want something she can use right away, some nice baby blankets. I found several at Carter's that were great -- large, stretchy, soft and really cute.

If you want things she'll use later, I highly recommend one or more of the following:

1. a Squish ball: http://www.amazon.com/Manhattan-Toy-200980-Skwish-Classic/dp/B000GI0S4E/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1331299316&sr=8-1

2. A travel-sized whoozit: http://www.amazon.com/Manhattan-Toy-201220-Baby-Whoozit/dp/B0000A9Y5R/ref=sr_1_1?s=toys-and-games&ie=UTF8&qid=1331299348&sr=1-1

3. Taggies-to-go: http://www.amazon.com/Taggies-Classic-Take-Plush-Pretty/dp/B000GC0DUO/ref=sr_1_2?s=toys-and-games&ie=UTF8&qid=1331299378&sr=1-2 (they come in all different colors)

4. A Sophie the Giraffe.

My favorite thing to give as a baby gift is a personalized print from etsy with the child's name. They have a ton of different styles. You can get one with just the name, or the name and stats.

Then I find a really nice frame and frame it. Everyone seems to love it.

ETA: I bought from this seller the last time

http://www.etsy.com/listing/73295239/personalized-silhouette-print-style-my?ref=sr_gallery_1&sref=&ga_search_submit=&ga_search_query=personalized+silhouette+baby+8x10&ga_order=most_relevant&ga_ship_to=US&ga_view_type=gallery&ga_search_type=handmade&ga_facet=handmade

it was a big hit.

Miracle Blanket
video of Happiest Baby on Block.... both things I didn't discover until my third child
books with boy heroes; someone gave me a copy of The Snowy Day which I had always wanted. I don't recall it being deliberate, but a lot of my books, even baby ones, were more girl-centric.
Lullabye CD and/or white noise CD

I'm not very into baby decor, so a boy-themed photo frame someone gave me got returned. But the idea may suit you.

How about a basket of board books? I think you can still get those great priced board books on the Walmart deal thread (3 Karen Katz books for $2.50, 3 Bear Wants More series for $2.50, etc.). You could put them in a basket and add some of the items PPs have mentioned, such as blankets, Sophie Giraffe, picture frames, Trumpette socks, etc. Here's the thread on the Walmart deal:

I know that this is not the best idea, but I would recommend diapers, wipes, and butt cream. This was my favorite gift after we had DC 1.
