We are thinking about purchasing an elliptical - anyone have one they would suggest? Have been looking at Precor and Octane models. thanks!

We have an Octane Q37E. It is about 6-7 years old. We love it and use it every day. I think the new ones are probably nicer and have more features than the one we have. When we were looking at them the sales person at the fitness store told us to go with the one that had a more natural/comfortable stride for us and that was the Octane at the time.

We are currently having brake error problems but Octane is replacing the brake and it is no longer under warranty. We just have to pay the labor of $130. Not really a complaint since I am sure all manufacturers have routine trouble or maintenance. And it gets used every day by my husband and me...we love it!

Good luck!

We have a Life Fitness model that we purchased around 3 years ago. It so so much smoother and quieter than the model (from a big box sporting goods store) ... I wish we would have replace our old machine earlier. I agree with the previous poster -- see what works best for your stride. Our new model matched our stride length better and the foot pedals came much closer together which was much better for my knees. It's still my favorite piece of fitness equipment.

We have a Sole E35. We bought it directly from Amazon.com (not a third party seller). Love it.

No because we don't have space to store it. I might like one of we had the space for it, but I also like the atmosphere the gym provides.

If I were to get one I'd get a Life Fitness or a Precor, both models they have at my gym.

I have a base model Precor that is still going strong after 12 (or so) years.

This is the newer version Octane that we have:

Looks like it got rated well too. Not only did the stride feel good to us, it seemed to take up a little less room than some others since the fly wheel is not on the back of the machine like many others.

We have had a Smooth Fitness elliptical for about 6 years - no complaints. It's bee upstairs, moved to a storage facility while we built our house, moved into the house...all without issues.

We bought a True a few months ago. I LOOOVE it! Super smooth, quiet, and compact!
Our 2nd choice was LifeFitness....but this was just "felt" better to us.
Couldn't be happier with the purchase!
