Marathon vs Frontier on plane?

I posted before about not sure which of the two car seats to take with on vacation. We won't be using it on the plane, but I would like to keep it with up thought the airport and have it checked as we get on the plane.

DH thinks we should heck the car seat with luggage.

Either way, which car seat would you take? DD is 3.5 and 32 " tall. We are flying Southwest if it makes a difference. The frontier is used in the car we will be leaving at the airport.

My vote is for the Marathon, mainly because the Frontier is a beast.

Check the car seat with the luggage, it's just one less thing to carry. I have never had a car seat damaged when checked at the ticket counter. You don't get any extra special attention to your stuff if you gate check except it might get put closer to the cargo door vs. in the back.

My mihaps with GATE Checked car seats.

Once with a connection the car seats didn't make it to the second flight, so we had to wait around at the airport until they showed up.

Another time the car seat was wet. So I definitely recommend a cover.

After these experiences I travel with car seats installed on the plane.
