Water/outdoor play shoes for wide feet

DS needs some shoes that he can wear in the water and can be easily washed. Right now all he has are SKR and these can't get wet. I want something he can wear if its muddy so I can wash them. He wore his SKR yesterday to the park and it was muddy, it was awful trying to get them clean!
Problem we have is his feet are very wide and chubby. I really like the Nike sunray sandals but they don't fit. We have Crocs and he really doesn't like those. I'm not a fan of Keens either, I know those are popular here. I bought a pair for DD a couple summers ago and she hated them, not flexible at all.
Anyone have the Pediped Sahara?

I bought some from LE for ds1 this winter during the crazy sales in 9W. this isnt it exactly, but close (new version?):

Looks like they only have wide for larger sizes (9+). i also haven't used them yet, so i can't comment on the fit. so maybe i am not a lot of help, LOL.
