Black Halo knockoff dress recs?

Has anyone seen this dress IRL? Or preferably, a less expensive rip-off of it?

It caught my eye long before this article came out. I think one of the Real Housewives wore it. Anyway, I'd like to buy a new dress for my graduation next month. But my sister's wedding is the following week and I can't afford a $350 dress. In fact, I need a dress for that too and the wedding outfit has to be the priority.

Anyone have any ideas? I've only browsed in Macys, but I haven't found anything that similar.

Have you seen the origami sheath dress from jcrew? It's not exact but very similar- I prefer the sleeves on the jcrew too. It's also a lot cheaper!

Do you think the JCrew or Black Halo dresses are dressy enough for an evening wedding?

I would wear the Black Halo dress to an evening wedding. If you switched out the belt for a jeweled one and weary dressy shoes, it would look beautiful.


Black Halo's site has the dress in a ton of colors, I'm considering getting the Aubergine, now that you've brought it to my attention! I actually Ike the sleeveless look better on the Black Halo, as opposed to the cap sleeves on the JCrew.

This dress has been popular since at least 2005, which is when I first added it to my wish list, but I never got around to buying it because of it being made entirely from synthetic fibers. For the price, I would expect wool or at least significant portion of wool. Maybe part of the trick of how it fits is in the fabric, and I should try it on after all.
