Hi there - I have been looking for plain black elastic shorts and having no luck! I want to use them for around the house, for working out occasionally, and for sleeping. And I'm really picky!

Everything I see is either compression (too tight), that super light fabric for runners (too flowy and big), really big or with a panty inside. Ideally it would be about 3-4" inseam.

I tried these on today, and they almost worked, but they flared out alot out to the sides.

I have my eye on these, but I am concerned if they are mostly cotton, they are going to fade quickly. I may order them just to see.

Just wondering if anyone might have a recommendation that fits the bill? (See told you I'm picky. I've actually been on the lookout for the past 1-2 years for these!) Thanks.

I have a pair that sound like they would fit the bill. They are from Russell Athletic, but I got them at a discount store for like $5 last year, so probably an older line or something.

Here is the Russell site though.

I would look in an athletics store.

yes, i've visited a number of athletics stores, maybe last year. either everything was too cheapy and juniors-like or just not what i'm looking for (too structured, sometimes too expensive, $40 for a pair of shorts!).

but maybe its time to head back!

Love the Danskin Now brand from Walmart. They keep their shape and don't fade/shrink much. I have some without a drawstring, but I think that you could just pull it out since it isn't really necessary. I bought them for the gym, but now I wear them around the house all the time b/c I love how they fit.
