I can't stand tea. I am from the deep south, so this is pure blasphemy, but I can't stand the taste or smell.

I know that green tea has many many health benefits, particularly with weight loss. So, I'd like to give it a try, but I really need for it to NOT taste like tea.

Are there any brands, or ways to make it so that it does not taste like tea?

Thanks!

For a minute I thought I was being paged ;).

I really like Allegro's Northwest Minty Green - the mint tempers the green tea taste. I buy it at Whole Foods. The cafe at our WF serves it by the cup, so if you have one near you might be able to try a cup before committing to a box.

:rotflmao: I thought about you as I was typing that title!

Unfortunately, no WF anywhere near me.

I have it on subscribe and save. It is mild tasting and you can leave in the tea bag for a while and it doesn't turn bitter. I am addicted.

This is my favorite: Green tea with brown rice. It tastes like the green tea served in most Japanese restaurants:

DH used to only drink yamamotoyama, but we got a different one in a tea bag, that he discovered in a Japanese restaurant. :). http://www.amazon.com/Yamamotoyama-Green-Tea-16-bags/dp/B0002G3UY0/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1335458286&sr=8-1

Now he happily drinks the green tea, sold at Costco.

I find the Stash brand they have at my grocery store to be very good & smooth. I also like Bigelow brand. I do not like TJ's, find it very bitter.

I drink a cup every morning and sometimes two. However, I have read that the health benefit comes from drinking 4-5 cups a day so I don't know what I'm getting from it. You do have to steep it for a while... 3-5 minutes I believe... to get the benefits as well. I also read a long time ago (so may have changed by now) that the decaffeinated does not have the same benefits as the caffeinated versions.

What about going to a bubble tea place and checking out their green tea concoctions? DH likes green milk tea. It doesn't taste like tea if that's what you're looking for.

For normal green tea that you brew, I like Pokka and the Japanese green tea that Costco sells.

I buy this one on Amazon http://www.amazon.com/Choice-Organic-Genmaicha-1-Ounces-16-Count/dp/B000H7FZ4C/ref=sr_1_24?s=grocery&ie=UTF8&qid=1335462847&sr=1-24

Just like Japanese restaurant tea - the brown rice takes away the bitterness and gives it a nice toasted flavor.

I love the jasmine green tea from Trader Joe's. It has a delicious floral taste.
