Doing my own gel nail polish???

I finally soaked my fake nails off and really like the gel polish but it is close to the same amount as a fill when I had the nails on. I am thinking about investing in one of those ultraviolet lights and Shellaqh nail gel polish and doing my own. Any suggestions or should I just suck it up and pay the $30 every two weeks plus tip to get them done? I am wondering what type of light to get, where, and the process itself.

i bought a Sensationail kit from walmart a few weeks ago. my first mani lasted 10 days and my 2nd one lasted 7 days, my 3rd mani lasted 7 days.

I like the kit but hope I can squeeze a few more days out of the mani. I'm 2 weeks into the pedi with no chipping though.

I just got the red carpet manicure set from Ulta. I did a mani for the first time last night. I found it really easy to use and pretty fast since it cures with an LED light (faster than UV). I'm only one day in so I can't comment on how it lasts. If I remember I'll update after a week or two.
