High School Graduation Gift

I just received a high school graduation announcement from a friends son. He lives in another state so I was just planning on sending him some cash. I haven't seen this kids in 7 years. Is $25 to cheap or should I go $50? He's in the Denver area if that matters.

I would say if you are still close with the friend then $50...but if you are more like old acquaintances, then $25.
