I am eating a delicious Boar's Head pickle right now knowing that it is full of BHT and other crap. Who makes good pickles without nonsense? Thanks.

Bubbies! Many WFs carry their products. So good!

There is a product locator on the left margin. I know one of my regular old grocery stores in the area also carries them, but they aren't listed on the product locator. THey are really good and super crunchy :)

Honestly, my favorites are these:

They're small-batch artisinal pickles and probably not everybody's cup of tea.

Also, they're expensive when you compare them to store-brand, mass-produced pickles.

But ... they. are. so. worth. every. penny.

When I can, I try to buy them from the company stand in the Union Square Greenmarket, but that's not very often.

AGREE! They also make amazing sauerkraut, which I use exactly once a year for Reubens with leftover St. Patty's Day corned beef.

Yep, we love the sauerkraut too :) I like that it doesn't have vinegar, just salt and cabbage IIRC.

Both sauerkraut and pickles are easy to make. It's just veggies and spices covered in a salt brine. Well worth the effort to read about lactic acid fermentation and make your own, then you're guaranteed no junk in them, plus they are way better than any you can buy.

:yeahthat: again - LOVE these! I can practically eat half a jar the first day, so I make them a rare treat.

My BFF's 20 year old DD makes her own and is giving them as her wedding favor next year. I'd like to learn to make them.
