Best way to remove face paint?

We have friends staying with us and they got their faces painted today (designs with thick, black paint). We have church tonight and we can't get the paint off completely, even after rubbing with wipes and washing with a washcloth and soap. Any suggestions for getting this off?

Make up remover or cold cream.

Baby oil may also work.

Try rubbing Vaseline or aquaphor into it. You may need to use a soapy washcloth to clean up the Vaseline afterwards.

I would just use olive oil. Like removes like which is why vaseline, baby oil and cold cream remove it but all of the above are bears to remove after the paint is gone. Olive oil is much more easily removed and usually on hand.
