I am planning to wear this dress to BIL's upcoming Med School graduation:

I got it in the midnight color (a purpely-navy shade). I like it because it's versatile and I think I could wear it a lot of places in the future. But, since it's pretty "simple" I want to pair it with some fun shoes. To me it seems like it could go with a lot of types of shoes from pumps to sandals, but I thought I would see if the BBB fashionistas had an opinion on what would be best. The only caveats are that I have temperamental feet and I am kinda a klutz.::p. So while I can admire four inch heels and really strappy funky shoes, I just can't handle them. So, comfort/wearability are definitely an issue!

Thanks in advance!

I have worn this dress with pumps thus far:

CH Air Carma

CH Air Juliana 45

http://www.zappos.com/cole-haan-air-juliana-pump-45

The dress looks good with both, but imo better with the Carma. All that said, the Julianas are really, really comfortable and I have very fussy feet.

Funny, I ended up with some time to stop by Nordstrom this afternoon and I picked these:

A very similar look but a bit more casual/summery.

Thanks for the help Kindra! I'm not 100% on these so if anyone has additional suggestions, please post them!

How high are you comfortable going? I absolutely can't do anything over 3.5" but can comfortabley do 2 or 3 inches. Via Spigas are my favorite shoe brand. They are very, very well made (imho), usually comfortable, and always illicit a "wow, cute shoes!"

Your dress is simple, but could be very sexy depending on the shoe you choose. I saw these on their website and they are on sale. The heel is 3" high: http://www.shoes.com/en-US/Product/04983-5152655/VIA+SPIGA/Chmpgn+Sa/Women's+Melanie.aspx?campaign=VIA%20SPIGA%20-%20Inv.%20Driven&CMP=KNC-Adwords&cpc=Adwords&ef_id=z29NC9PoAAAAA1c:20120510212144:s&group=Dress%20Shoes%20-%20Inv.%20Driven&partnerid=Adwords

I also really like these. Sexy because of the pattern and the pointy toe, but only 2". and on sale: http://www.shoes.com/en-US/Product/10727-5165176/VIA+SPIGA/Butterscotch+Patent/Women's+Dynamite.aspx?campaign=VIA%20SPIGA&catalog_name=web&CAWELAID=1020048199&CMP=OTC-GoogleBase&cpc=GoogleBase&partnerid=GoogleBase

But these are my FAVORITE right now and would look so great with your dress (drool, drool. They are NOT on sale, unfortunately) : http://www.zappos.com/product/7984757/color/353795

ETA: just rememberd that your dress is navy/purple. I'm not sure the middle ones would work with that color. I was thinking brown for some reason when i linked those.

You should keep these shoes regardless. I have the closed toe version and they are the BEST. I walk almost a mile each way on my commute and I have no problem wearing the Tali. I will be buying these open toe versions. The Air Carmas are nowhere near as comfy but definitely dressier.
