View Full Version : Update #2 in post #10: I think we need to try some other brands/Keens Newport sizing?

Do these run small?

DD1 wears an 11 or 12 in shoes and finally no longer has a wide foot:boogie:, however I brought home the Keen Newports in both 11 and 12 and the 11s didn't fit at all, and she had little growing room in the 12s. Are the 13s going to be too floppy? I wasn't counting her wearing socks with these either. I like the idea of the Keens for summer camp, but is there any other brand I should be trying as well? I want something that will stay on a little bit better than Crocs.

My DD1 wears a size 13 shoe (can fit into some 12s) and wears sz 1 Keens. I would definitely size up, but I'm not sure if it would be 12 or 13 in your DD's case.

ETA We LOVE the Keens so I would highly recommend keeping them!

We just got some for DD at the REI Anniversary Sale. She usually wears size 5-5.5 and the size 6 Newports fit just fine with room to grow. Love them!

FWIW, when we took DD to get her first pair of keens at the nice little local show store. The guy told me that he likes to see their big toe right behind the rubber part over the front. I was glad to hear this as it gave her more room...I would have thought her toe needed to be closer to the front. Apparently, not. :)

Well we tried the 13s on last night and she complained that they were too floppy. She definitely had more toe room in these than she did in the 12s, but I think I am going to try some other brands, probably LL Bean, and Lands End. Any others?

DD wears a 12.5 shoe. Her Keends are a 13. DS wears a 2.5 shoe and his Keens are a 13. IMO they are big on them and they each have plenty of room for the Keens to last the entire summer and into the fall.

I ended up ordering a pair of Keen Venice sandals (http://m.zappos.com/keen-kids-venice-h2-toddler-youth-moonlight-mauve) in a 12, and a 13, and a pair in each size of these Merrill water shoes (http://m.zappos.com/merrell-kids-waterpro-web-toddler-youth-peony)as well. So we'll compare all three when the other shoes get here.

Thanks Heather!

:yeahthat: These are DD's exact shoe sizes, and she has always worn one size bigger in Keens than in regular shoes, especially because I want them to last through the summer.

Did you try tightening the cord that tightens the area over the top of the foot? That should help with the floppy feeling.

DD1 still thought the Venice shoes wobbled too much even with cord tightened. We ended up keeping the Merrill ones I ordered in a 13. I also think she liked that they looked less boyish than the Keens did, even though they were pink.
