Keens? I don't see why anyone would have a problem with those.

I just got the kids their first Keen shoes (the Newport H2) they're approved by our daycare and DD's school and they love them.

I have wondered the same thing. We also live in Georgia. DS's daycare doesn't allow crocs and all footwear must be close toed shoes. I have resorted to tennis shoes, even though the thought of myself wearing makes me cringe. I am very much a flip flop girl as soon as it gets warm.

We really like these from Stride Rite. They are also having their B1G1 1/2 off sale.

Stride Rite Kyle (http://www.striderite.com/store/SiteController/striderite/productdetails?catId=cat1530402SR&subCatId=cat1530714SR&showDefaultOption=true&stockNumber=CB36961&skuId=***8********CB36961*M095&productId=8-124284&)

I bought 2 pair of these for my DD for summer wear - she's got a wide foot and nothing in her size was also closed-toe, so these were the best option.

I'll wear sneakers myself, but that's mostly due to my own foot issues. (Also, I opt for ones that are mostly mesh rather than all leather and it helps.)

My folks live in Georgia and I got DD the Kylie (pink) for our trip last year (they live on a big lake so worked for water too). I also ended up using them for preschool b/c of the no flip flop rule (I don't do open toe anyhoo).

Love them!!! and Georgia :)

My DD1 found her foot wobbled in them, and found thee Newports hard to adjust. She is 6, and wears a 12m. We ended up getting her these from Merrill (http://www.merrell.com/US/en-US/Mobile/Product.mvc.aspx/0/26486Y). We got them from Zapoos, and I believe they have smaller sizes as well.

I like pedipeds. I was cheap and got these because they're on sale http://www.pediped.com/Products/Flex-br-Joel---Navy--Red__RS951.aspx, and they're very cute. But, I also like these http://www.pediped.com/Products/Flex-br-Sahara---Blue__RS1820.aspx and http://www.pediped.com/Products/Flex-br-Delmar---Grey__RS1811.aspx

I love all of them but wish they were available in girl colors. I just ordered a pair for DD and had such a hard time finding one.

Oh, they have similar ones for girls too. I have boys, so I didn't post those, but here's the link: http://www.pediped.com/girls-youth.aspx

I think these are especially cute: http://www.pediped.com/Products/Flex-br-Amazon---Pool__RS1447.aspx

Hi

I had the same problem with the day care for my two girls. I ended up going to Macy's (http://www.macys.com/cms/slp/2/Kids-Shoes), who have a variety of children shoes, girls and boys. The service I got was great and my two girls just loved there new sparkling shoes.

Hope you find what you are looking for
