My DD is 11 mos and is trying to figure out this whole walking thing. We have a push toy but the wheels are plastic and it slips on our hardwood floors. I'm worried she's going to do a face-plant one of these days so I took it away. Can anyone recommend a good sturdy push toy for her to practice walking with? Something that won't slip or roll too quickly on hardwood?

Thanks!

I don't think it's the material, it's probably the shape. Our kids both loved toy stroller and it's very sturdy. http://www.toysrus.com/product/index.jsp?productId=3027470
The Step2 or Little Tykes shopping carts are also good choices.

We have this one and love it. Not slippery at all on our hardwood floors.

We have this. It doesn't go super fast, has rubber on the wheels and has little stoppers if they fall and tilt it back. It's really cute too.

we had a vtech one with flashy lights and sounds, and it also slipped on hardwood floors. ended up pushing a cardboard box around most of the time.

We have this from Ikea. It's got great rubber wheels, and you can adjust how quickly it rolls. Lots of fun! DD still uses hers to push her babies around. Oh, and it doesn't scratch the floor like some of the other toys we had.

It would help if I put the link in.....

We found that we could slow some of the plastic wheeled toys by covering the wheels with masking or duct tape for a little more traction.

Whatever you do don't use the same push toys indoors and outdoors because the outdoor usage will often ding up the wheels and make them more likely to scratch hardwoods.
