I want to get the Little People House for my little girl.

Do I need to get that for her 1st birthday/Christmas while 1 year old or would 2nd birthday be soon enough? When do kids play with these?

DD got it for her 2nd birthday and it still doesn't get much play. That said, she has two older brothers and often just wants to play whatever they are playing with...which isn't the Little People House unless dinosaurs/bad guys are attacking it...

I got DD the little people house for her 1st birthday, and she didn't play with it much (other than ringing the doorbell and fiushing the toilet) until she turned 2. Now she plays with the little people a lot. I think age 2 would be fine.

My ds didn't play with LP until he was three or maybe even older. Believe it or not he still plays with them now at nearly nine--they are the cast of whatever play he is putting on at the moment. For example, he will build the American Idol stage out of unit blocks and then the LP will be the judges and singers.

I think 2 is a better age for it. My 5 yo still likes to play with the actual people, but not the house, barn, bus, etc all that much.

I played with them until I was 10 plus. My brother, who is 7 yrs older, would play with me too, or try to tell me they were his, which at one point they were.

I did too. But the Little People sets we had were much more interesting than what they sell now. :( They were more like today's imaginets IMHO.

I think either age would be fine. My DD got her first few sets around her 1st bday (the house, bus, and farm) and we have been adding ever since. My DS started playing with them before 1 - mostly bc he watched DD play with them so much I think. They both still play with them on a daily basis now at almost 2 and 3.5.

We started getting them around one and he played with them then. Now DS is 3 and still plays with them. I'd say the type of play has changed alot, he's more imaginative now and talks to them. But either 1 or 2 would be ok to start.

DD2 is 2 and has been playing with them at daycare since 21 months. I think more a 2nd birthday present than first.

DD1 received a set for her first b-day, and she certainly chewed on them, but she really started playing with them when she was two. She still likes them, and she's seven now.

Hmm....DS1 got the Little People house for his first birthday and LOVED it!!!

I'm sure it depends on the child, though.

:yeahthat: DD got the LP house for Christmas when she was about 18 months old and has always loved it. FWIW DS had some too but was never interested in them. Every child is different.

most of our little people are hand me downs...my child liked them from 14 months on and still plays with them at preschool (and occasionally when we get them out for visiting "little" kids)-- she's almost 4.5
