seasonal allergy meds for children with asthma?

Ds has asthma which is very well-conrolled with a low dose of albuterol. He is not scheduled to see the asthma specialist for at least 6 mos (and that was set 6 mos ago, so that it will actually be a year since his last appt). He seems to have developed seasonal allergies this year.

So, my question is, should I schedule an appt to see what they prescribe or just give him something over the counter? If something over the counter, what would you recommend?

ETA-He is pretty stuffed up now, so I think I am going to have to get him something over the counter even if its just to get him through the weekend.

I went out a bought Children's Allegra. We'll see how that goes this weekend.
