i'm still struggling with what to get to put into DS' room

we took the glider out to use in the nursery

however, he is not happy about it - misses his chair

and honestly, i miss having an adult seat in there too.

want to put in something very comfortable and i was thinking, ideally...something he could continue to use as he grew

but i am so underwhelmed by everything i've seen

i want to tuck into a specific space so we don't have room for a really big chair.

of course, as he gets older and furniture moves around and leaves - like the little table and chairs we put in, and his pkk everywhere chair...than there will be more room

so maybe it's wiser to spend less now and not worry about having a big enough chair for when he's fully grown - just big enough to be comfy for the next few years

anyway, i was looking on ikea and i can't really tell online if i like any of these - probably best to see in store.

but wondering if anyone has an armchair from there - particularly if you have any of the ones linked below - and if they're comfortable? (want it to be comfortable for me too as i would end up using it on occasions when he's sick, etc)

thanks

The Ektorps are all comfortable but they don't necessarily hold up all that well. In a kids room, I think it would be fine. But I might be inclined to get a Poang to save more money. It is super comfy and has a little bounce for rocking sick kids to sleep.

We have the Ektorp Jennylund (second link) in DD's bedroom. It gets used for reading time, getting dressed, for the parent to sit on when DD isn't going to sleep, etc. I wouldn't say it's the world's most comfortable chair, but it's not uncomfortable and we've been pleased with it for the almost two years we've had it. The main reason I chose this one is the removable slipcover – I wanted to have the option to wash it in case it got dirty, drawn on with markers, etc.

We actually have the Poang rocker in our nursery. It doesn't rock all that well, but it is a very comfortable chair.

i did just search and found the poang thread - interesting! i looked on the ikea site and they are all different prices? is that just b/c of the colors? or am i missing subtleties between the chairs (beside the obvious ones of rocking or swivel)?

thanks!

i think the fabric is different on some of them. we got just the basic one. some have patterns which i think are more $$$.
