Sad today

Today is the 25th anniversary of my father's death. I feel like he's missed so much of my life. He died when I was 6. He's missed everything from my first day of 1st grade to my high school graduation, to my wedding, and meeting his grandchildren. As I get older, I realize how tragic it was for a 35 year old to just stop living during the course of a normal day. I also realize that i have to be grateful for every second of my life.

Thanks all! I really appreciate it. I just have to add that of my siblings I'm the lucky one (I'm the oldest). I'm the only one who remembers him. My 2 younger sisters have no memories at all.

I'm sorry. I lost my mother when I was a little girl, so I know how painful it is. Maybe you can tell your children about him, show him pictures, etc. In that way, he will live on.

I'm so sorry! I miss my dad, too. My cousin made a DVD recently with music, pictures of him, and some written memories. I can hardly watch it, because it makes me cry, but DS loves it and now tells stories about things he and my dad did together, though, of course, they've never met. It makes me feel better to think that although we are in pain missing him, he is not in pain missing us. We are the only ones feeling the unfairness of all he has lost and all we have lost not having him here. He is at peace.

I was 7 months old when my dad died so I have no memory of him, just pictures and family stories. I have a hard time with it when I look at DS or when someone mentions how I am like him in different ways. I think about all he missed too and how my life may or may not have been different if he were alive. Hugs to you
