He can finally tie his own shoes!!!

DS1 finally mastered tying his shoes this weekend! Yes, he just turned 9. We went thru a long period of him wearing those slip-on Vans and I just didn't think much about it. Whenever I would try to teach him he would just act silly and not work hard at it. Lately he was having to wear running shoes with laces for an after school running club, and I was *triple-knotting* his laces. And it finally clicked this weekend! One less thing for me to worry about :)

Yeah! I get it. I think DS is going to go to college wearing pants without snaps or buttons and shoes without laces. :)

Yay! That's awesome, and I'm so happy to hear there might be hope! DD1 (7.5) refuses to wear shoes with laces (they could be the same size and an identical shape as the same shoes with velcro, and she'll say they pinch somewhere) so hasn't learned yet.

We just got her soccer cleats, which don't come in velcro. Maybe she'll learn this summer, since she has no choice?
