I wanted to get a more accurate idea of the calories I burn during yoga and there is no way I can wear a band around my chest during class. Does an accurate monitor exist that is simply a watch? I've seen Polar mentioned before.

Eta--may have found something....www.mioglobal.com Anyone know anything about this one?

For these watches to you work you have to stop and push buttons which to me is more work than wearing a strap. I wear the Polar strap under my sports bra and do not even know it is there. Much easier and I get readings throughout my workout.

I have one of those watches - mine is by Timex - you only get your HR when you push a button on it. I just want an occasional snapshot, not an ongoing monitoring, so it works for me. I've tested it against the ones on the cardio machines at the gym and it gives essentially the same reading, so I'm confident that it's accurate enough for my needs.

It might be overkill for your purposes http://www.bodymedia.com/

Hmm..that may not work for me. I don't want to stop during class and press buttons. I want a total picture of my class from start to finish. Food for thought...thanks.
