I have a 16 yr old coming tomorrow to play with the kids for 3 hrs while I clean/ pack/ organize. I might go for a solo jog by myself also & take a shower. Ah, the thought of an uninterrupted shower... anyways in a lcol area what would you expect to pay?

Low end in our area for a teen helper is $12, more likely $15 at least for helping with three kids, regardless of if mom is home or not. We are in a pretty high COL area, though not CA high.

Thanks. I was thinking $40 for the 3 hours.

I have a 16 year old coming 3 days a week for 3 hours as part of my attempt to regain my sanity. I'm paying her $75 a week. Roughly $7/hour plus tip. To me, it doesn't matter whether I'm here or not - she gets paid the same because it's her time. For a younger mothers helper who I can't leave alone, I pay $10 for 2 hours.

Our 17yo sitter is $10 an hour for two kids. And we round up. Mama wants to keep the sitter happy!! :)

I think $40 for 3 hours would be plenty. My niece is 17 and has told me she gets $8/hr for babysitting 3 boys. That's low in my area (I pay $14-15) but so far I have only used adults since DS3 is little. When I can hire a teen for real I am hoping I can get away with $10.

When I was a teen babysitter I made $3 an hour!!

My mom still talks about how she made a quarter an hour.

I pay our 15 year old sitter who is now 16.... what do I pay her? Between $8-10 an hour for our three kids. I hired an 8th grader once and paid her $7 or 8; that was while one child was sleeping, and then the evening with all three kids. Nationally, I'd say our cost of living is average, maybe a little above average.
