I'm not sure if folks have seen this letter from mom to daughter, right before she turns ten. I want to write one too!

My favorite: "It is almost never about you."

1. It is not your job to keep the people you love happy. Not me, not Daddy, not your brother, not your friends. I promise, it's not. The hard truth is that you can't, anyway.

Something most every woman should remember more often.

I know I'm not good enough and not the mother you deserve

I did not like this line. I think she is sending the wrong message. Of course no one is perfect, that should be the message. She's telling her daughter that she is not good enough b/c she loses her temper etc, but wouldn't that just make her daughter not feel good enough when she makes her own mistakes? I know that's how my almost 10 yo would see it.

Hmmm...I am not sure I liked the tone in a lot of that letter and like a pp, I don't agree with all of it, either.

I love the idea, though, and may very well write my own letter to my daughter who is about to turn 9.
