How would you paint a small bathroom if the toilet and tub are powder blue? It's not an option to replace those things anytime soon, so making it not seem so shockingly blue would be nice.

Maybe tan or silver?

I'd pick a color that complements the powder blue (embrace the blue, LOL) rather than trying to minimize it. I wonder if you could paint just the wall behind the toilet a chocolate brown, and use a light neutral everywhere else?

What about replacing the toilet seat cover with a white one? Thought that might look even more clashing...

Now I want to see pictures!

I'd stick with all blues in the room (maybe a darker blue that compliments the powder blue) or go opposite on the color wheel if that would fly in your house scheme ... blue or orange depending on the exact color of blue.

The brown would be good ... or maybe even a gray would look good with some silver accents. Pull in a few textured items -- woven basket, etc.

Here's one suggestion:

I wish they had included a photo with the list but it does make sense to tame the influence of the blue.

I think either a very pale shade of the same blue or maybe a silver/grey color would complement the blue nicely.

Someone pinned this on Pinterest for a powder blue bathroom and it seems like it might also mellow things out a bit with neutral walls. http://www.kohls.com/kohlsStore/bathroom/showeraccessories/showercurtains/floral/PRD~725167/Home+Classics+Reiko+Floral+Shower+Curtain.jsp#

Now I want to see pictures!

This is in a house my parents may be buying, so I don't have any pics. I was just trying to think of how to make it look better if they do choose this house.

I would find a nice shade of tan for the walls and use lots of white for the curtains, towels, etc. but my go to bathroom decor has always been beachy.

:yeahthat:
That's what I'm picturing too - a nice tan on the walls, lots of white elements and taking it in a beachy direction - crisp and clean.

Silver gray. Another blue. Sandy brown. ITA that they should embrace the blue.

I love the look of pewter gray and powder blue. I also think a tan/light brown would look nice. My in-laws have a brown bathroom and they painted the walls and ceiling chocolate brown and it's claustrophobic and cave-like. Didn't work well in a small bathroom.

pewter/dove gray. mushroomy light brown. soft turquoise/robin's egg blue with some sage accents.

or a seaside/beach theme.

My first thought was chocolate brown, but I like the gray idea too.

Is a tub liner an option? Maybe it would be cheaper than redoing it completely. It doesn't fix the toilet though. I love some of the photos and suggestions above though!

Have they considered artistic glazing the tub and toilet to change it to white? We just remodeled our master bath and decided to keep our huge PINK roman tub and had a company come out and glaze it. It looks great now and will last 10 years before another glaze will need to be applied. It cost $275.

We had a pink bathroom once....I painted the walls white and used brown towels (kind of like the idea in the pictures posted by PP). It really minimized the pink.
