We have a birthday party for a little boy turning three. I suggested a pillow pet because the girls love them and I know they were on clearance still at Buy Buy Baby. The girls helped me pick the T-rex (http://www.amazon.com/My-Pillow-Pets-T-Rex-Large/dp/B003ZJTJVE/ref=sr_1_3?ie=UTF8&qid=1339150842&sr=8-3).

When we got home DH questioned the gift and said he didn't think it would be appreciated. Honestly, I am a big gift giver and usually put more effort into gifts. Last year I made him a handmade reversible cape with his initial on one side and a lightning bolt on the other.

But we are low on cash, I have a 6 week old who is having some kind of nursing/sleeping issue, ALL of us our sick and the fact that I schlepped all three kids out to the store yesterday was nothing short of a miracle. Can you tell I was not pleased to hear this from DH?

So before this becomes a BP just tell me yes or no if your toddler DS would like this gift. He doesn't have to adore it, just like it!

My 8 year old loves his pillow pet too. Its wally the red sox mascot and it sleeps on his bed next to his other stuffed animals. I think its a great gift for a 3 year old.

Ha I am vindicated. :ROTFLMAO:Thanks ladies.

In his defense, he was remembering that we gave one to a 3 turning 4 year old boy and he said, "thank you very much but I don't really like it" (which was hilarious by the way because his tone was so courteous).

My DS would LOVE the T-Rex one. I'm going to pretend I didn't see that and just tell you that yes, he loves his turtle Pillow Pet. He'll be 3 in July. :wink2:

Absolutely! Ds1 has a penguin and ds2 has a turtle. Funny story... Last year when ds1 was 9, he went to sleep away camp. He wanted to bring his Pillow Pet and we were a bit nervous that he could get teased. Every boy in his cabin had one!!!

3 boys here- and I think we own 6 or 8 mini and regular ones. I actually prefer them over stuffed animals cause they can be washed!

My DS is almost 2.5, totally all-boy and LOVES his pillow pets. He has a Thomas pillow pet and a mini-thomas pillow pet in his crib, sleeps with them every night. :)

DS is 4 1/2 and LOVES his! He has a panda and a Thomas one. Actually, he and DH fight over the panda. I'm considering buying DH one of his own :tongue5: Tell your DH to try laying down on one to watch tv. I'll bet he changes his mind quickly.

My son has three pillow pets- a turtle (knock-off), a dog, and a collegiate mascot. He's 8 and still likes them. Fourth graders at school had pajama day yesterday, and I saw a couple of pillow pets with stuff from some of the kids who go to After School. DD has several too. I think it's a good gift!

My nine year old has the dolphin, Wallie Red Sox one, and a mini dinosaur. He still loves his and sleeps with them every night. I'm sure the little boy will love it. If he doesn't it's not a big deal-it's a gift!

For Christmas the only thing DS asked Santa for was an Oregon Ducks Pillow Pet. He got one and my parents bought him a iPad for Christmas. After Christmas when anyone would ask him what he got he would say "An Oregon Ducks Pillow Pet" and totally forget to mention the $500 iPad. :shake: He was 6 at the time. (BTW, he does love his iPad and play with it every day but still).

We will be the outlier. Two boys here that don't like them. They have never liked anything stuffed.

My 4 year old son loves his turtle pillow pet. He's had it for a year. But he also loves Build a Bear. I think your gift is great and is likely to be appreciated.

He'll either love it or ignore it. DS loves stuffed animal dogs and pretty much only dogs. He loves his pillow pet dog and similar to pp, on pj day at school there were several in his class with boy owners.

A pillow pet was the first thing F ever asked for in the store. We were at Target getting something for Father's Day last year and he saw an endcap and we stopped and looked. I wasn't going to get one right then so I said "Maybe you will get one for Christmas" His eyes got big, he leaned forwards out of the cart seat and said "THAT would be AWESOME." My brother got him the dog one and it's been love ever since. :wink2:

Boys like animals. Boys like pillows. It's a match.

DS got 2 as gifts when he was 5. A bumble bee (that he asked for) and a koala. He loves them both and is now 7.5. He's actually gotten more into stuffed toys this last year.

DS1 has the penguin and DS2 has the spotted b&w dog! I've also seen boys at DS2's preschool with them. I took a bunch of DS1's friends to the zoo a few weeks ago and they all wanted to buy stuffed animals at the gift shop, and the oldest boy is almot 11! Boys like cuddly things too :)

My 8yo LOVES his pillow pets, and just told me this morning how much he loves sleeping on his red sox one every night (funny to see another with the same one!). Amazing the lasting pleasure these provide. But my kids LOVE anything stuffed really.

Did not read all of the replies so far, but my DS got one when he was 6, he is now 8 and still loves it. It comes downstairs every morning and goes back up to his bedroom at nighttime. Most of the times rides with us in the car, and is packed in the suitcase to go on trips. He is the #1 stuff animal in our house.

My DS is 7, got his pillow pet when he was 5.5 and still sleeps with it every night and brings it as his pillow to slumber parties (as a side note, at his last slumber party at least 75% of the boys there brought their pillow pets!) :)
