I think this is such a wonderful idea...write a tribute (replace eulogy for this) to someone and read it to them in front of others. Insert memories....'I remember when...". I'm doing this for DH for Father's Day. I think it will take me a week to write.

I recently read a story about a man who turned 80 and many tributes were read to him by his party guests. They spoke of his spirit, his passions, his faith and love for his family.

He was thanking his children for the party and said, "I felt like I was at my own funeral".

Why do we wait? The time is now.

I agree. We just installed our first co-pastor, who had previously been assoc. pastor for over 10 years. I am still relatively new to the church, and was blown away by the outpouring of testaments to her character and work. I kept thinking, this is the kind of thing I usually hear at funerals. How awesome we (and she!) are hearing this while she is about to start a new chapter in our church.
