DS suffers from anxiety as part of his ADHD. He is deathly scared of flies. I think, but I'm honestly not sure, that he had an anxiety attack last night b/c a fly got into the house. It was bad. He has shaking and screaming at us to kill it and crying. How worried do I need to be about this? He is already medicated for adhd. What can I do to help him with his intense fear of flies?

It's not about flies, it's about thinking patterns. This book is a great starting point for kids http://www.amazon.com/dp/1591473144/ref=asc_df_15914731442051177?smid=ATVPDKIKX0DER&tag=hyprod-20&linkCode=asn&creative=395093&creativeASIN=1591473144&hvpos=1o2&hvexid=&hvnetw=g&hvrand=19273514999546766&hvpone=&hvptwo=&hvqmt=

Is he seeing a therapist as part of his ADHD treatment? Id so, I would mention it to them and get their input as well.

Anxiety and ADHD can be very intertwined. If this increase in anxiety is a recent change, then I would mention it to whoever is prescribing his medication, because some ADHD meds can exacerbate anxiety.

M was the same about spiders. He also has ADHD with anxiety.
He would scream, cry and come running to us if he saw anything that resembled a spider.

I sat him down and looked up information on spiders. We also searched for "pretty spiders" and he got to see how diverse and sometimes pretty they are. It took a little time but now when he sees a baby spider he tries to collect it and put it somewhere where it won't be harmed.
