Negotiating for a Mattress

We're looking for buy a Sleep Number bed. I remember reading an article somewhere about always negotiate when buying a mattress. Anybody has experience negotiating prices for a Sleep Number mattress? How should I do it? I don't even know where to start!!

You just have to ask. "Is that the best price you can do?", "I was hoping to pay $XXX for this bed", "I am interested if I can get a X% discount". I think I tried to negotiate on my Sleep Number bed, but it has been so long I can't remember for sure. Maybe I got a couple of free pillows thown in? Or a mattress pad? I don't think they came down in price but that was a few years ago.
