I am pregnant. I am shocked. Thanks goodness I didn't do the Xray, even though the blood test was negative. Thank you to all who calmed me down after my initial blood work. At just over 5 weeks, my HGC is over 8,000. Tomorrow I will have an ultrasound to date the pregnancy.

We are super excited and trying to figure out when and how to tell DS. Did anyone do something fun or creative to share the news with their DCs? DS is 3.5. When do you think we should share the news with him?

Congratulations!!!

I waited to tell my three until I was out of the first trimester...and they told many people the next day. Tell him when you're ready for it to be public knowledge!

Congratulations!! :bighand:

We did not do anything special to tell DD (she was the same age as your DS), but we did wait until I was 20 weeks to tell her. We had a couple reasons. I did not want to have to try to explain an early loss to her. At 20 weeks we had some reasonable looking US pics to show her to help explain it. Also, we found that the waiting on baby was really hard on her. She just could not understand why he was not ready to come from about 30 weeks on. I anticipated that, and it was one reason we waited. In retrospect, I probably could have waited until 25 weeks to tell her, but that would have been really hard for me and DH ;).

I did get some several big sister books and a puzzle with baby in mom's tummy. (http://www.amazon.com/Mother-Layer-Puzzle-27-Pieces/dp/B001CL6U1O) She loves puzzles, so this was a big hit. The bottom layer has a nudie mommy, so you have to be ok with that. I do not think I paid $20 for it though....

Congratulations. No we did not do anything special to tell DD1, she was 3/1/2 then. We just waited till mid 2nd trimester to tell her because of the loss of baby 2 we really wanted to make sure everything was okay first.

Yea! Very exciting!

No BTDT, but my very fertile friend always tells her little ones when she’s past 20 weeks just b/c months and months is a really long time to a little one. She says she doesn’t start trying to get them jazzed about Christmas in March so she doesn’t try to get them jazzed about the new addition until it’s closer to happening. Plus, she knows the gender by then so she’s able to say “little brother or sister”. Might not work for everyone, but it does for her.

I told all my kids at different times. My oldest (9) was told about 20 weeks (after my anatomy u/s). My middle 2 (5 and 3.5) found out a few weeks before I started my 3rd trimester. I just recently started showing my 21 month old baby pictures and telling her how we make nice to babies. I didn't do anything special to tell any of them.

Congratulations!

We told DS when the first trimester was over and we were ready to tell everyone (our parents and siblings knew before, but were cautioned not to say anything in front of DS). The wait has been kinda long for him as it is, so I'm glad we waited a bit to tell him. He's 4.

Very exciting news! Congrats! We also waited to tell DD (age 4) at the 20 week U/S, because we had had a miscarriage the previous spring. She sort of didn't really get it because mommy didn't have much of a belly yet.

She is getting more excited now, as we get closer! Best of luck with the pregnancy!

Congrats!

At my first appt I was 10 weeks and heard the heartbeat. We told the kids soon after. I am exhausted and a SAHM. I didn't want the kids to think anything was wrong so we explained why mommy was so tired and might need more help around the house. The kids have been great. I also like the kids knowing earlier because I like to stop carrying the kids early on in my pregnancy. I tell my dd I can't carry her because I am already carrying the baby. She loves babies so she usually pets my belly and then happily walks. I am not too worried about straining myself but it gives me plenty of time to get the kids used to walking on their own more often since Mommy will have her hands full soon.

Honestly I don't even remember how or when I told ds about dd. He was under 2 though.
