Is there such thing as last minute flight deals anymore?

I used to read the specials on Wednesdays and plan trips... pre kids! DH may be stuck away on business next weekend and it is our annual once a year weekend without kids. I could go join him, but flights are expensive. Debating if I should wait until Tuesday/Wednesday if the deals exist.

I haven't been able to find any! Travelocity used to be so great with last minute deals, but not anymore. I'll be checking this thread to see if anyone has any ideas.

Airtran has some great rates right now if you can travel on Tuesdays.

United and American both do weekend specials. United posts them Monday or Tuesday on their site here http://www.united.com/web/en-US/apps/booking/specials/default.aspx they are for Friday or Saturday departure and Monday or Tuesday return.
I get the American ones by email so I'm not sure where they post those on their website. The Southwest/Airtran sale was matched by other carriers but was for August and fall travel. Though they may have some low summer fares out there still, but probably not last minute.
