I'm flying Southwest and can't find on their website if a breastpump (I have a Medela pump n style) is considered a carryon item? I'm only allowed one carryon and a personal item (purse). I did not buy a ticket for my son- he'll be in my lap. Anyone know the answer?
Thanks!

I just flew sw with my pump & believe it would count as a carryon. I only had it and my purse. What else are you wanting to take on? A diaper bag, purse & pump? Or big bag?
They were not stringent on the carryon rule there that I could see.

I usually put the pump and parts into my carryon bag - I don't use the bag the pump came in. That way I have room for more stuff. If you carry the backpack or messenger bag, that will count as one item.

It is considered medical, so it does not count as a carry on! :applause:

Unfortunately they told me a breast pump is not medically necessary so it's a carryon. Argh! So I'm stuffing it in my carryon along with a separate diaper bag. It is medically necessary in my opinion so i don't get an infection or get blocked!
