It's one of the first words DS learned, and I'm just wondering how parents around the world say it (or get the meaning across). ;)

If you grew up speaking another language, or learned something other than English, how do you say "Uh-oh!"

Thanks for humoring me!

I'm not sure if it's a German thing, but a German friend of ours said, "Ho-ha!" (Not to be confused with hoo-ha. Hee hee.)

Uff-da ("uff-dah") is oops in Norway.

In French it's "oh la-la." That phrase can be said in frustration, or to mean something went wrong, or yes, in the sexy way Americans say it.

Well Dominicans have a very coarse word in Spanish but the cleaned up version is "conchole!". Another is carajo our all purpose word meaning crap/hell all in one.

I love knowing how other languages make random sounds. Like the different sounds animals make in other languages. (clearly the animals make the same sounds, but the way the humans imitate the sound is interesting to me :) )

Ha! I think that's really neat too.

Uh oh in Swedish is Oj! (j is pronounced like a y which is really cute when it's chilly and DH says he needs his yacket)
roosters say "kuckeliku"
frogs say "goack"

When we lived in Germany people would say "huppala" or "oppala" for oops, like when a baby knocked over a tower of blocks.

My mom's family is Norwegian and as PP said, said "uff-da" when they stubbed their toe, dropped something etc.

For the animal sounds, German kids make a funny sound when they are impersonating an animal eating. It's like "hammm...hammm" said really fast. So DS would say "We threw an apple to the sheep and the sheep went hammm! hamm! and ate it up." I don't even know what the English/American equivalent would be.

And they have an "owa" not an "owie" when they've hurt themselves.

Oh and the French say what sounds like "eye" with an emphasis on the "y" sounds instead of ouch.

A German rooster says "kick ee ree kee" spelled phonetically ...

"autsch" pronounced "out-ch" for when you get hurt.
