I wasn't sure if I should post this as I didn't know if there would be much interest, but decided to go ahead and post.

My 6 year old ds ran a 10k with an adult friend while dd and I completed a 5k walk. I am so proud of my baby. He did not really prepare or practice but we do walk or bike at least 2 miles every weekend day. Dd and I have always done the walk, which ds joined us on last year, but this year he wanted to to the run. I was scared he did not know what he was getting himself into as the run is longer than the walk, but he did great!

This is my ds who I adopted less than 2 years ago. He is such a resillient wonderful kid who has overcome so many odds. I am so proud. Dd is extremely proud of her little brother too:love5:.

Holy cow--that is awesome!! A friend of ours told his kids he would "pay" them a dollar a mile (a way to give allowance and get them to exercise). He didn't think much would come of it. Until his 9 yo ran 4miles at a 9:30 pace. Crap--that's better than what I run on a training run!!!! Now they are joking about a cross country scholarship for college. :cheerleader1:

So great for your DS--anything that makes them feel good about themselves!:cheerleader1:

Thanks so much everyone! Yup, he really did the whole 6.2 miles. He did walk some of it--I believe his pace was about 14, but like I said he did not train at all except for 2 mile walks and bike rides.

I think I may have a little athlete on my hands. Any advice about that? My sister says he is clearly not from our genes in a good way---we have no athletic ability whatsoever.

LOL, for the family who ended up with quite a surprise when they paid their kids to exercise. Can't imagine how much ds could run if I offered him money....probably way more than I could afford!
