View Full Version : What's everyone looking at for Fall (Nordy's Anniv Sale, for example)

I really get more revved up for clothing for myself in the Fall, but I have no clue what I should be buying. What's everyone else getting?

This is really bad, but I'm hoping to order some new Hannas for me from the store that's opening. Shipping should be free and returns will be much easier with an actual store. Hadn't thought about fall clothing for me past that!!! Missed "seeing" you here!

I haven't thought past a few new pairs of jeans and leggings and maybe a pair of boots. I definitely need way more than that but I figure I'll start there.

I finally bought a lot of warm clothes last year after being sick of being cold. Boots really do keep you warmer, whaddya know? :) so, I'm pretty set. I might get some black Hunter boots, and a really nice satchel. I just bought a great pair of red skinny cords from GH on deep discount, looking forward to wearing those. I'll have preschool fees x2 this year, so it's a good thing I don't need much!

Leggings. Almost had the perfect pair with the trouve ottoman leggings from Nordstrom last year except too big in the waist. Should have just gotten them altered...

I am thinking maybe a nice grey handbag.

And I am considering trying to find a part-time volunteer position that will boost my resume in anticipation of returning to work in the next couple of years. If I do that, I will need to assemble a mini-work wardrobe. Law tends to be a formal field so even as a volunteer I may need to dress on the dressier side of business casual. I will have to go through the remnants of my former work wardrobe and see what still fits and isn't too dated.

But off the top of my head I am thinking a grey pants suit, a dress and a handful of tops that work with grey and black. (I know I have a black pinstriped skirt and a grey skirt that fit and I may have a black suit with both skirt and pants, not sure about how those fit and they weren't great quality to begin with so they may look pretty dated.) Also likely at least one, maybe two pairs of dress shoes. It will be tough to pull off on a tight budget I think.

Shipping should be free? Are you ordering online or calling/visiting the store? I thought its not supposed to open until October... I have that ruffle dress and the layered skirt from them for the summer, but have you seen the fall stuff online? Where the heck is the rest of it?! :)

And I'll see you in a couple of weeks in Raleigh, I bet. ;)

I'm eyeing a few things in the Nordstrom catalog. I like the idea of a peplum jacket, but I'm not sure I will use it all that often. I like this one, but have to give it some thought and see it IRL.

I like these Cole Haan shoes (last pair on the right):

I'm also drooling over this Chloe Bag, but will not be getting it. I saw it elsewhere in navy blue and it looks gorgeous.

This sweater looks comfy, but I would have to see it in person:

I pre-ordered this dress in solid black from Boden. I like the vintage look of it.

http://www.bodenimages.com/productimages/productThumb160x207/12WAUT_WH375_GRN_M01.jpg

I also like this top:

and these booties:

http://www.bodenimages.com/productimages/productThumb160x207/12WAUT_AZ150_BLK.jpg

But I have never ordered Boden shoes, so I might keep looking.

Finally (for now), I want a pair of navy blue ballet flats.

Is there a code for the Boden fall preview? There is something I really want to order but I need a coupon and free shipping and returns ;)
Thanks

I'm not sure, but I think for the preview it's always full price, since you're getting your pick of all sizes/colors. Maybe someone else can chime in? I've never actually ordered from the preview before.

The only thing off the top of my head are some brown flat boots/riding boots. I got black ones last year and love them, and now I want brown. I've also been inspired by my summer guilty pleasure, The Bachelorette, :bag - she wears her brown riding boots with everything, and I really like the look. They seem much more versatile than I would have guessed.

They usually have a code when it first comes out. There was a 20% code, but it expired on June 25th. I just looked and could not find another code. There will probably be another code when Fall goes on the regular site.

Add me to the list of those who want brown boots.

I don't need much for fall. Last year I went a little sweater happy and bought too many sweaters for a Florida girl...and of course we had a milder than usual winter. I would like to get a casual dress or two...and in celebration of DS3 being potty trained, I will want a new bag.

Ok...lol I caved and just ordered a pair of chestnut brown boots.. For some reason, I don't mind wearing the same summer footwear combo (gladiator sandals/havaiianas flip flops) 4 years in a row (really, the sandals might be done after this summer sadly, shame as they are so comfy and broken in by now...) but I buy a pair of boots each year (*bag), at least I live in Northeast and get to use them Oct-March... I just might be funny that way, I don't mind having one watch or one purse, usually I use cologne till its all done before moving on to the new one. But boots? BOOTS? I love boots lol.

Well I took a bit of a leap and ordered suit separates, jacket and trousers, from Talbot's sale. They only had one combination that might work for me as far as sizes go, but I can return to store so not a bit loss if they don't work out. If they do, I got a lightweight wool pants suit for for under a hundred dollars. I ordered grey.

Planning to go to Nordstrom's sale on the 20th and have several things I want to check out.

but do kids' shoes go on sale then, or just items from certain categories? Is there a rhyme or reason to the sale?

Thanks!

I need new skirt and pants in office-friendly colors (black and/or grey) for fall, and a pair of 'nude' pumps. Plus boots, socks, gloves and long underwear for skiing classes, which I hope to finally take this fall.

So far I've ordering the following items from Nordstrom Anniversary sale:

DvF Camisha Ponte Knit Suiting Skirt (http://shop.nordstrom.com/s/diane-von-furstenberg-camisha-ponte-knit-suiting-skirt/3303148?origin=keywordsearch&fashionColor=&resultback=261)

Classiques Entier (http://shop.nordstrom.com/s/classiques-entier-flare-leg-stretch-wool-pants/3260519?origin=keywordsearch&fashionColor=&resultback=0)® Flare Leg Stretch Wool Pants

SmartWool Cable Socks (http://shop.nordstrom.com/s/smartwool-cable-socks/3033245?origin=keywordsearch&fashionColor=Medium+Grey+Heather&resultback=296)

Sorel 'Tivoli (http://shop.nordstrom.com/s/sorel-tivoli-waterproof-boot/3326621?origin=keywordsearch&fashionColor=Black%2F+White&resultback=247)' Waterproof Boot

I have already noticed that I can get a better price on Sorel boots from external sites, so if I like them and the sizing works, I'll either ask Nordstrom to price match or return and rebuy. And I've never bought DvF skirts, so not sure if the fit would work for me, but I do need to replace my Brooks Brothers black pencil skirt that is over 3 years old and I wear at least weekly.

I have had really good luck ordering Cabela's version of Sorel boots on their website. The prices tend to be a lot better and the boots are really really good. They have a great customer service dept. Same thing with their version of smart wool socks (I actually think they last longer).

Here's the first YouLookFab post on the Nordstrom Anniversary sale.

http://youlookfab.com/2012/07/13/nordstrom-anniversary-sale-let-the-games-begin/

I have my eye on the dress in the top right picture as it was featured in the catalog as well and is around $50. Unfortunately we don't get to preshop this year (dh is a $$ customer but no credit card) so it may be gone by the time I get to shop on the 20th.

Will anyone be doing their NAS shopping online? I can't remember if the sale goes live right at midnight on the 20th....and wondering about which timezone. There are definitely some basics I'd like to get my hands on right away online, then go into the store to look around. Wish I had a Nordie card...

I thought about ordering online, but I finally decided I should go in person to try on, especially since shoes are on my list. And I found a neighbor to babysit the morning of the 20th. . . . So I am planning to go in person at this point.

Which Cabela's boots are you referring to? There are several that seem similar, with this (http://www.cabelas.com/product/Footwear/Womens-Footwear/Womens-Winter-Footwear%7C/pc/104797980/c/104790780/sc/104688180/Cabelas-Womens-Snow-Runner8482/749509.uts?destination=%2Fcatalog%2Fbrowse%2Ffootw ear-womens-footwear-womens-winter-footwear%2Fcabelas%2F_%2FN-1101221%2B1000002949%2FNe-1000002949%3FWTz_l%3DSBC%253BMMcat104797980%26WTz_ st%3DGuidedNav%26WTz_stype%3DGNU&WTz_l=SBC%3BMMcat104797980%3Bcat104688180) one probably being the closest to Tivoli but more expensive both vs. Nordstrom Anniversary Sale price of $79 plus tax and certainly elsewhere online ($62-$67 at 6pm.com + shipping).

I would strongly recommend shopping in person. Got my Nordstrom order today and most, if not everything, in it is going back. DvF skirts (http://shop.nordstrom.com/s/diane-von-furstenberg-camisha-ponte-knit-suiting-skirt/3303148?origin=keywordsearch&fashionColor=&resultback=338)(in both sizes) are going back to the store. Don't like seeming/pockets at the top, which was difficult to see online on a black item, plus it does not fit that great, so will end up collecting dust in the closet. I do like Sorel 'Tivoli' (http://shop.nordstrom.com/s/sorel-tivoli-waterproof-boot/3326621?origin=keywordsearch&fashionColor=Black%2F+White&resultback=315) snow boots, but need them in my regular size and not half size up as ordered based on reviews, so they are going back as well. Plus I need to decide if I want something taller and warmer. Have yet to decide what to do about Classiques Entier pants (http://shop.nordstrom.com/S/classiques-entier-flare-leg-stretch-wool-pants/3260519?origin=category&fashionColor=&resultback=1053) and SmartWool cable socks (http://shop.nordstrom.com/s/smartwool-cable-socks/3033245?origin=PredictiveSearch&fashionColor=Medium+Grey+Heather&resultback=686). Will probably keep socks to wear with boots but need to get thicker ones for skiing, and return pants if I find something better in store/online. Waiting for my returns to get processed, so that I could order new things from MyHabit and Gilt.

I am set to shop in person first thing Friday morning. We'll see what the stock is like. I know last year a couple of things had sold out before my dh even got to his pre-sale shopping appointment.

I have gone through my "work" wardrobe and am definitely concentrating on tops and shoes. None of my dresses are appropriate (I have fancy dresses and casual dresses but no work dresses) so a well-priced dress is also a possibility.
