DS1 is doing his first stint at sleep away camp this summer. I'm trying to think of things other than food items to send in a care package. Ideas?

I was just going to post this exact question for my DD. So far, I've been recommended:

A card game (like Uno)
A misting fan
A new swimsuit
Small cuddly toy/mascot
Disposable camera
Autograph book

Mad libs or other word games. Does he follow any baseball teams? As a kid my dad sent me the sports page because I loved the Mets, older brothers made me a tomboy.

Also, I would enquire with the camp what their rules are for care packages. Each camp allows different things.

Yahtzee
Extra dice
Playing Cards
Book of easy dice and card games
New book to read (Joke books are good)
Bey Blade or similar (if allowed)
Beachball, frisbee or pillow case and permanent markers for autographs
Comics
Yoyo
Slinkee
Socks
Madlibs
Hackeysack
Stamps and postcards or stationery with addresses

A quick google brought up this list and then an additional site (where you could order, but I think they have some good ideas even if you are sending your own)...

As always, you all rock. I had good ideas when DSD went - nail polish, hair stuff (Janeybwild - the girls at DSD camp loved to do each others nails so a nail kit with sequins etc was a big hit) who was but I love the great boy ideas. Joke book will be great.

DD (8) went to sleepaway camp for the first time earlier this summer. Hits in care packages (some received by her, some by others) included:

* Flavored lip balm (not 100% sure boys use... :) )
* Mad libs (there's a camp version at Amazon)
* Glow sticks
* Books
* Word searches
* Temporary tattoos

Before you send food, confirm that it's allowed. It no longer is at most camps.
