DS1 is taking a knitting class. He's had 2 classes and is doing great! But, I need ideas for projects for him. He already made a coaster.

DD is taking the class too and is knitting a scarf for her AG doll. It's a lot easier to think of girl ideas than boy, it seems.

So, any ideas for what an 8 year old boy could knit that doesn't take forever, like a scarf for himself might?

Does he have some sort of electronic device like an itouch or DS? He could make a case for it.

How about a hat?

Or an iPod/DS/Tablet Cozy?

Or coffee cup cozies or dishclothes for gifts?

If you aren't on Ravelry, now would be a good time to join. There are patterns for lightsabers and all sorts of other things if you poke around.

Kids Knitting by Melanie Falick is supposed to have some great patterns but I haven't looked through it.

He'd like the DS cover, I think.

I've gotten so behind on my own knitting, that I can't remember if I'm on Ravelry or not!

I'll look at the book, too. He's so not a crafty kid, I really want to keep him going on this, so I need ideas.

Definitely get on ravelry, they have knitting patterns for cozies for his drinks, bookmark (critters, pencils, crayons, bobble ended bookmarks--probably sports themed if you want), backpacks, and bracelets (probably felting them which adds a whole new level to his knitting repertoire).

Good luck and tell your kids how awesome I think they are for knowing and learning how to knit!

Just saw this nook book: http://www.barnesandnoble.com/w/manly-knits-authors-of-instructables/1030277105 and I found it already to read and instruct on: http://www.instructables.com/id/Manly-Knits/
