I am expecting my first baby in November and I am trying to figure out what the best stroller is that comes with a bassinet . Any thoughts out there?

Thanks

welcome! I wanted a stroller that came with a bassinet and picked the UPPABaby Vista, but that was in 2010 and there may be better options now. I loved my Vista when DS was younger, and still love it for outings though it is too big for everyday use in and out of the car.

Since you're not due for a few months you should wait for the Valco Spark! Its seat turns into a bassinet, no extra piece necessary!

I've had my Vista since 2008. It's on its second baby now, and it's my one and only stroller. I don't have a problem getting it in and out of the car. There are other strollers with bassinets, but the bassinet is sold separately. I believe the Valco Spark, which is being released soon (am I right?) can turn the seat into a bassinet. I was considering this as a double.

Finding the best stroller for you is difficult without more details.

Are you hoping for a reversible seat after the bassinet stage?
Do you want something with air tires or something that is lighter and more mall friendly?
When do you need to fold the stroller, will it be used in and out of your garage or your car?
Do you live in the suburbs, city, or rural area? Is anything walkable from your house?
Do you have any special needs like tackling front steps or need to fit in a tiny elevator?
Are you a runner? The MB Terrain takes a bassinet and would make a great jogger once your baby turns 1.
Finally do you have a budget in mind or is the sky the limit?

Once we know more about where you might use a stroller the better recommendations you will get.

I would like one with a reversible seat. I live in the suburbs its a small beach community so there are a lot of things to walk to. I also plan on walking on the boardwalk with the baby a lot of course weather permitting. No special needs. I live in a house. The tires are really a concern for me. I will need to fold the stroller to place in car when I go to the store or my inlaws house. As far as a budget we are trying to stay in the $700 range.

Thanks for your help and I hope I gave the info you were looking for.

:yeahthat: I love my Vista but it suited my particular needs perfectly.

:yeahthat: we had a Vista as well and loved it. DD2 slept in the bassinet too and it was the only place she would sleep for the first few weeks of her life.

If I had not gotten the Vista I probably would have gotten a Bugaboo Frog, or a Bugaboo Cameleon.

I had a 2007 Vista and the only thing I didn't care for about it was the wheels, but I believe they have fixed the wheels issues by now. If it had air tires it would truly be the perfect stroller.

For your boardwalk needs i'd probably try to stick with air tires or rubber over foam. Maybe something like the Chameleon? Bugaboo is coming out with an updated Chameleon (C3), so there should/ will be some great deals to be had on the original version which could keep you in your $700 price range. Otherwise a Vista is a good option as well, it just doesn't have those rugged tires that the Chameleon has.

Another option that is less well known could be the iCandy Peach stroller.

Wow this is all so confusing. I have been following this thread because I'm expecting and I don't have a clue where to start when it comes to a stroller or if I'm even how much I'm going to use it. I had decided on the snug ride 30 travel system but looking at the vista and bugaboo I just don't know. Sigh

Or maybe an iCandy Apple? :love5: It's what we have and we love it. Not sure it would work on the beach but the boardwalk should be fine. The rear tires are air, and if you're super crazy like me you could send off for an air-filled jog wheel for the front as well. It is on the heavier side but I like that it feels sturdy and yet even my puny 12-year-old can steer it with one hand.

I still say the Spark would be a nice choice for you, though, unless you want something a little more all-terrain.

Thank you everyone for the advice. I am really liking the Valco spark. I've heard great things about the vista. I like the I candy but I have read many good reviews on it.

I have the iCandy peach and love it! I has planned to get the bassinet attachment (I had one with my Bugaboo for DS1) but never needed it - the seat reclines so well. My recline buttons are a little sticky now and I could use bag clips but otherwise it's great. My neighborhood is overrun with Vistas too so it's nice to have something different.

I wanted the Peach but everyone (online) said the seat is small, so I ended up with the Apple. I've never seen a Peach IRL so I can't compare, but the Apple seat is huge. Good thing, too, because I have a huge baby! The Peach sure is pretty, though!

Love the Vista for babies! I didn't love the cam/frog as much, but I didn't love having to change out the fabrics, etc on the frame. The air/foam tires are nice though.

I loved the apple (never actually used it before sending it on to queenmama, just admired it and played with it in my basement), but that's a great compromise, because it's very vista like. In fact, the reason I sold it was that it was TOO similar to the vista and I didn't need the air tires, and didn't have the bassinet for it. I still sort of regret selling it, but it went to a better home ;) It's so so pretty...

That being said, it looks like the valco spark may be the best of all worlds - air tires, seat that becomes a bassinet, reversible. And valcos tend to not be excluded from promos, so you can probably get it for $400-425 by the time you would need it :)
