We're planning a very last minute vacation to Miami for the last week in August. DH would love to have a completely private pool. Any idea of where to find a place like this online that's not crazy expensive? I tried looking on www.vrbo.com but didn't find anything that really fit our needs.

Ideas? Thanks.

Homeaway.com is another one. Also, depending on the area, there are certain real estate agencies that might handle something like this.

http://www.redweek.com/timeshare-rentals/
is a reputable timeshare rental -- perhaps there is a place there? I've not used this one.
homeaway.com is similar to vrbo and I've had good luck with this one.

Have you heard of airbnb.com? We haven't used it, but have heard good things about it. Here is a sample listing: https://www.airbnb.com/rooms/39647

My family has used both sites suggested in previous messages and had great luck with both. Sites family used as suggested were....
https://www.airbnb.com/rooms/39647 and vbro.com

Highly recommend both. In fact family is going this Xmas and found the house my family is renting at www.vbro.com. We have used this site for both US and international destinations.

Good luck!

You can also check vacation rentals on the Miami Craigslist. Sorry you aren't having luck with VRBO, we go to FL once a year and rent a home with a pool, and I've gotten all my listings from VRBO.

I've used homeaway with great results. I would be cautious with craigslist, because along with valid ads there are spammers (who are using just a picture and a description of a house that might not even be available for rent), and there's no screening process. You kind of find out once you start communicating with them, that they sound weird.

Just wanted to update and say thanks- I used homeaway.com and it was great. I found a villa that looks beautiful, and I'm really looking forward to going! Thanks again for all your help.
