s/o: For you lefties, do you hook or not hook your arm/hand?

I'm curious. To all my fellow lefty BBB'ers, when you write, do you use the left-handed hook/crook that lefties are so often mimicked for?

I do not. Not sure why some of us do and some don't. But, I can spot a lefty, hook or no hook, a mile away. It's like IDing another member of a secret society.

Nope, I think I write pretty much like a right-handed person. My students actually hardly even realize that I'm left handed even though I write on the board ALL the time in front of them :)

No hook. Seems like it would hurt your wrist to write like that!

No, I just turn the paper instead. And suffer through ink smears on my hand, sometimes.

I don't hook but I do turn my paper almost perpendicular.

Sometimes. Did it because 3rd grade teacher complained that my hand smeared the pencil. Nice huh.

I hook mainly my hand. I don't think it's as pronounced as others I've seen.

I am a righty and have to turn the paper perpendicular in order to write nicely.

No, I've always thought of it more of a guy leftie thing for some reason. Maybe compensating for fine motor skills when learning to print?

i read years ago that it has to do with when the language and writing centers in the brain are wired a certain way. i knew a doctor who was a righty and the *worst* hook-er! it looked painful!

I'm not a leftie but I voted on behalf of my two lefty kiddos who both do not hook.

Definite hook here. I cannot write on a clipboard with the clip at the top for instance. I am surprised you all don't need to do this! I tried doing the horizontal sheet thing and it never worked for me.
And I have always had horrible handwriting too.

I hook my hand just the tiniest bit, my "pointer" finger points to 1 o'clock rather than 12.
