I am looking at 3 different thermometers and am trying to decide which to register for. I would love some input as to if you have used it, liked it, didn't like it, etc.

I have the Exergen and hate it. Can not get a consistent reading. Bought the Braun digital ear thermometer (the same one they use in the doctors' offices) and love it. I think this the one: http://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B001FWXKMM/ref=mp_s_a_1?pi=60x75&qid=1345766424&sr=8-1

For an infant you will need a rectal thermometer though. Most peds want the rectal temp when you call about a fever. We have this one and it is really easy to use: http://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B0002AHVZU/ref=mp_s_a_1?pi=75x54&qid=1345766592&sr=8-1-spell

I agree.

For me it was the other way around, the digital ear one is terribly inconsistent, I could do a reading twice, and I'd get as much as a 2 degree difference between them. I always repeat the reading with the Exergen twice to make sure, and the difference is pretty small.

And you do need a rectal one, I used the Exergen to verify if they might have a fever and if that reading was high, I'd undress DC and take a rectal reading.

I love the Exergen, we use the Exergen at work too (pediatric clinic--of course the much more expensive heavy duty version), we do rectal temps for <6 mo old. The exact number doesn't really matter, with any digital thermometer you will get a slightly different number each time anyways, but I have found this to be better than the ear thermometers (what we were using before switching--also the ear thermometer will not fit in an infant's ear anyways).

Actually when I gave birth, the hospital gave me a digital thermometer and complimentary diaper bag that was not too shabby as well as Mustela baby shampoo.
