Which activity mat would you buy and why? I'm open to other suggestions as well.

We had the FP Rainforest one with DS1, and still have it to use when DS2 arrives. DS1 loved it. I don't think I would pay $90 for it. I got it from CL for $25 and it is washable. The music gets a little annoying after a while. :)

I have the Tiny Love one and my baby loved it from the start, but probably would have loved any mat. I honestly think just get the one that you think looks the best and has music you can live with! I have the Rainforest bouncer and Jumperoo and just felt like mixing it up a bit.

We have this one from Taggies....still expensive, but I just couldn't spend $90 on a mat: http://www.amazon.com/Taggies-Bug-Hugs-Play-Gym/dp/B007Y5RNKY/ref=sr_1_1?s=baby-products&ie=UTF8&qid=1347143414&sr=1-1&keywords=taggies+play+gym

It has a terrible review on Amazon, but we've really liked it and haven't experienced any of those issues. It's really easy to move from room to room, which we do all the time. My daughter is such a "tag" baby, and spends lots of time exploring all the ribbon "tags" on the mat itself, so it's a hit with her!

I've seen and DD has played on both the other mats as well, they have them at her daycare. She seems to like them, too, so I say just go with the one that you prefer!

We have the fisher-price one and it's fine. The music gets pretty old after a while. I sort of wished that I had gotten the tiny love one because it's cuter to me and I think there's a little more to play with on it. But both dds have liked the fp one.

Eta: fp one not worth $90

I somehow missed that it's $90! In that case get the Tiny Love hands down. Lots of fun things on the mat itself and my baby seemed plenty entertained by the hanging toys. Plays Mozart and nursery rhymes, nothing too annoying.

Go for one without electronics and looks that won't make you crazy. Mine was a little pricey (skiphop abc one) but blends with our decor, DS loves the toys and the blanket part is really soft (softer than I remember the gymini being though it's been a while)

:yeahthat: We had the tiny love one - both kids loved it and I would totally recommend it. We used the FP one at a few friends houses and liked that one too, but I would get the Tiny Love one for sure if the FP is that much more!

I had a red/black/white one by Tiny Love with DS and have used it for all three kids - you don't need anything fancy, just something to hang toys on and that is soft for the baby. So far I've avoided any battery-operated baby gear and don't miss it (using the FP Rock n Play and the Gymini but no swing/bouncer).

I'm amazed the Tiny Love animal one still looks identical to the one I bought almost 9 years ago. It got a lot of us. I don't think I'd like that bulky thing at the top of the other one. Hanging our own toys or whatever else we wanted on the other one was always fun.

Thanks everyone. I picked up the Tiny Love Gymini for $15 off of Craigslist. It looks like new and seems to be a hit with my little one.

We LOVED the Gymini. That's the one I ended up buying after doing the research for the variety of toys, the music played, the reviews online, and the presence of a mirror. And it was well loved by my baby for the 9 months we had it before she started sitting up.
