After hearing Brad Meltzer talk about his book, "Heros For My Daughter" the other day on NPR I had to have it and I have to say this book is awesome. Each hero is an ordinary person who became exaordinary each in their own way. It's perfect for bedtime, too as each story is about a page and a half long. Many of the stories brought tears to my eyes....Meltzer is an exceptional storyteller I think. I read many of the stories to DH (Sally Ride, Alex...the little girl who started Alex's lemonaid stand, the heros of flight 93) and some brought me to tears. I even enjoyed reading the introduction which is a letter to his daughter. I really identified with it.

The accompanying website is Ordinary People Change the World and it simply awesome.

These are lessons I want to teach my daughters. That ordinary people can change the world and to do that they have to take a very active role as did the heroes that Meltzer writes about in this book.
