So dining chair are you using for your 3-4 year old toddler? DD can still be a pretty messy eater at times and it's ruining our fabric covered dining chairs.

So I'm curious what others are doing when it comes to toddlers dining chair. And at what age did you no longer use a high chair

Hmm. The chairs at our kitchen table are all wood, so easier to keep clean if somethign gets spilled on them. When we venture into the dining room, both kids (including the 7 year old) get a towel put on top of the chair. Can you get a plastic slipcover or something for her chair?

We have trip traps for our 3 year old and 6 year old. It makes a big difference in getting them to sit nicely during meals. And they are easy to wipe down when food gets all love them.

We still have DDs Fisher Price booster on one of our dining chairs. I'd say she sits in it about 50% of the time. Otherwise she just sits on one of the regular chairs.

We used the IKEA junior chair at that age.

They don't have ours any more, but kind of like this: http://www.ikea.com/us/en/catalog/products/10099897/

My 2 and 3 year olds just sit on our wood chairs, but I would get a plastic or oilcloth cover for the chair if I had fabric seats.

tripp trapp - love it b/c it's so adjustable so it can pretty much always fit them perfectly to be comfortable at the table. and it's easily wipeable

Both boys have Tripp Trapps. They're expensive, but I figure we'll get years of use out of them since they each got one when they first started solids. They also have a pretty good resell value, but there are cheaper knock-offs too.

We bought DD an inexpensive wooden stool-height chair (I want to say it was $35). As she gets taller, DH just cuts an inch or so off the bottom of the legs. He's cut off so much now it's about the same height as our regular chairs, lol!

I have Tripp Trapps for my kids (and wood chairs at the kitchen table).

I suggest getting several dining chair covers (http://www.bedbathandbeyond.com/stylepage.asp?RN=814&RNT=0&ipp=15&) at Bed Bath and Beyond. Swap out every couple days and toss in the wash.

It's not that hard to reupholster most dining chairs. You could cover the seat with PVC-coated fabric and that would help. I would go for the tripp trapp (we had a Kinderzeat) or an all wood chair.

Yes Tripp trapps here too!

I find that having the foot rest REALLY helps them sit still longer and stay at the table!

My 7 yo still prefers to sit in them two. They are also great for use at the computer. I plan on keeping them for my grand kids one day.

We have parson leather chairs at our dining table and the girls just sit in those. It wipes off really easily.

We also have some plastic chairs from IKEA that are also so easy to clean and come in a junior version as well.

Well, I didn't really consider DS a toddler anymore by the time he was 4. Preschooler perhaps :)

However, he is using a IKEA INGOLF dining chair. We LOVE it. http://www.ikea.com/us/en/catalog/products/10099897/

Laurel has 2 XL prefolds covering her dining chair, strapped under the booster seat. I swap em out every once in a while for clean ones.

The other two are a lost cause and I just recovered the chairs too. I'm trying to get off my butt to make covers that come off for laundering.

Our dining room chairs have a pleather cover, so it is easy to wipe up DS1's messes.

For DS2, we got a Tripp Trapp off of Craigs List for $50 and I have a feeling he will be sitting in that chair for a long time :) So if you don't want to recover your chairs, stalk Craigs List!

Just our regular chairs. I purposely picked a fabric that hides mess. :)

We bought a Tripp Trapp when DS was about 3 or 4 and we're still using it - he'll be 10 next week. It can be used by adults too, so I think it is still a good investment even for kids who are past the baby/toddler stage.

Looks like the Tripp trapp is the way to go. I wish I knew about this before I bought the $150 chicci high chair 4 years ago.

Hmm, how am I going to get DH convinced to spend this much money on a high chair for a 4 yr old?

Ugh, sorry that was supposed to have an exclamation point (craigslist!), and I can't figure out how to edit my post on my phone. :o

Another fan of Tripp trapp. My 2 and 4.5 sit on them. Debating getting one for the baby when she's old enough but 4.5 yo said he would give her his.
