DD is 14 months. Her teacher told me she has been playing with one of the dolls in the class when they bring the soft toys down for playtime. I was never a doll person. I have no idea what doll to get. I was looking on Amazon but I am clueless. Please help. TIA

Calin or Tidoo.

I'm a Calin fan. Don't ask me how many corolle dolls there are in our house. They also have Babipouce if you are looking for something more like the MA dolls linked above. We skipped this step in the doll progression.

My daughter had both Calin and Tidoo but was never in to either. Her favorite doll has always been Baby Stella (http://www.amazon.com/Manhattan-Toy-130080-Stella-Doll/dp/B001R6W4KA/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1348867866&sr=8-1&keywords=baby+stella)

Calin or Tidoo.

DD liked her Corolle Calin and then it was passed on to little sis so a good buy.

DD1 has a Middleton doll play baby: http://www.leemiddleton.com/products/productdetail/Playbabies+-+Little+Hailey+-+Brown+Eyes%2C+Medium+Skin/part_number=2359/1783.6.1.1.83961.5684.0.0.0?pp=12&

DD2 has a Corelle Calin: http://www.amazon.com/Corolle-Premier-Calin-Charming-Pastel/dp/B000AM2L1O

Both are very nice. The Middleton is a bit bigger.

my child isn't a babydoll lover :( boohoohoo to this mama's heart, but it's just the way it is :)

that said, we had the MOST luck with corolle calin. that's what i always recommended when i worked at a doll store in college. nice and light! smells good! sweet faces!

(we also have a tidoo from MIL and it was fun because it could go in the bath, but that didn't make it more loved or cherished by my kiddo!)

oh...and i gave my daughter a madame alexander a huggems as her "first doll" b/c i'd bought it years ago with that intention. the huggems are different than the dolls the pp linked, but similar (extremely "dolly" in the face, if that makes sense)

For that age, I vote Baby Stella. She is so cute and huggable. Stella still gets more love in our house than any other doll (including a boy Calin) almost 5 years later.

I got my daughter a Corolle Babipouce as her first doll, when she turned one. I like that it's mostly soft, so more comfortable to sleep with in the crib. On the other hand, you can't really pose it, it's more like a stuffed animal. However, DD still (at age 3) plays with this doll and hugs her while sleeping :)

ETA: Just wanted to add that the Babipouce is machine-washable, which is a big plus.

I was never a doll person either and felt much the same as you. My girl got Corolle Calin for her 1st birthday and loves her. She began doll play around that age and we have picked up a few other dolls but Calin is still the favorite. One thing I realized that I didn't know before, is that "rag dolls" or dolls shaped and styled like little girls or people, are not the same as "baby dolls". My daughter much prefers her dolls to look like a real little baby. She has a few of them, which comes in handy since she is having tea parties with them now and doing other fun play, but the one that must go with her everywhere is Calin. Oh she turned 2 in July and loves her now even more than ever.

We have this one.

Calin or Tidoo.

A big :yeahthat:
I prefer Calin because she sits better, but a Tidoo for a good price is just as good.

We love Corolle Calin. DD got one for her 1st birthday and it has not left her side once since then. "Baby" goes EVERYWHERE with her! And I love Calin also. She's very cute, huggable, easy to keep clean, etc.

Is there one Calin that is better than another or is it just an outfit preference? Thanks again everyone!

My daughter preferred Baby Stella at that age. Soft and she has a diaper and pacifier too.

No totally personal preference. It might be better to avoid one with hair because it gets messy. Target had some for a while, I don't know it they still do but it might be a good place to look at them IRL.

barnes and noble carries the one in the white/pink outfit (that's the one we have... i can't remember if it's "precious" or "darling") it's full retail of course, but you can take a look at it and during the thanksgiving holidays b&n traditionally offers very high value coupons (40-50% off)

It doesn't matter what outfit. Honestly, my daughter took the clothes off and couldn't get them back on so many times that I finally left them off. We will try the clothes again at a later date. :)

We got DD a Camden Doll for her first birthday and she is still the favorite at almost 4. Very soft and well made, if you choose to go with a soft doll.
