I know it's hard to imagine, but I found it in a rich brown suede, with gold hardware.

I put it on my shoulder, and it instantly elevated my entire outfit (denim capris and stripped boatneck top). Wow. It also seemed to be a good size for my body. It was on sale for $200. Now, who knows if it will still be there if I decide to go back. I have never spent more than $50 on a handbag, with usually pretty utilitarian type bags.

I have a few questions: will suede wear well? Will it get matted and stained and eventually look gah? Will it rub against my clothes and color transfer? Do you weather proof a suede purse?

I also love this one, but it's a totally different look and not on sale:

No advice on the main questions you asked, but I love the look of that first purse! Looks super cute and classy, and it looks like you got it for an awesome price!
I like the look of the first one a lot more than the second- it looks more fashionable and younger (if you know what I mean).

I would totally get it if I were you! :)

I really like the first one!

The second one is really nice too, but NMS.

I can't help you with the longevity of suede either, because I totally prefer leather purses.

I love the first one. And I love the look of suede but I avoid it b/c I'm afraid it just won't last like leather. I bet there's some sort of suede protector out there that could help.

I like the first Michael Kors better. Designer or not I don't like a lot of gold hardware on my bags.

I love MK bags. I really like the first one; not a huge fan of the Hamilton satchels.

As for the suede, I'd use a suede spray on it. It should hold up then.

Thanks for the opinions. I visited the purse at the store again today. I agree the the brown one is more modern. There is gold hardware, but not a whole lot and it doesn't seem flashy.

I actually love gold hardware on purses- I've always worn gold (yellow, not white) jewelry, and have always wanted gold hardware on my purses to go with it (I know, strange! ;)). It's been hard to find up until the last few years, so I'm excited that designers are using it a lot more now!
I think brown or tan with gold, black with gold, or especially cream with gold are super classy!
